It is with deep sorrow and the acceptance of God’s will, that we announce the passing on of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, Church Parish Chairman and friend, MR. JOHN KAMANDE MWANIKI, which occurred in Malindi, after an intermittent illness bravely borne.
He is survived by his wife & love of his life, Mrs. Mary Wanjiru Kamande, his beloved children Lady Justice Margaret Waringa Muigai and Prof. Githu Muigai, Patrick Mwaniki and Mary Wanjiru of Malindi and Nyahururu, Anne Wambui Tuoy-Giel and William Tuoy-Giel of Minnesota USA, Albert Muraguri of Malindi and Nyahururu, and Elizabeth Wanjiku Mutua of Kenya Airways and Dennis K. Mutua.
He was the son of the late Patrick Mwaniki and the late Margaret Muringa Mwaniki. He was the loving brother of the late Peter Kigera, James Ireri, the late Joseph Wairiri, the late Robert Magua, Elijah Thuo and Richard Gichuru.
Grandfather of Muigai and Gathoni Githu, Wambui Githu, John Kamande Githu, Eve Njuguini Kamande, Cathleen Tuoy-Giel, Brianna Wanjiru Muraguri, Sean Mutua and Kayle Mutua. He will be fondly remembered as a precious brother, cousin & uncle to many.
He was greatly loved within his church community of St. Anthony Cathedral, St. Francis and St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Churches Malindi where he was Parish Chairman.
A memorial service will be held in Nairobi on Sunday 17th March 2024 at Mwitu Estate, Karen from 3.00pm. A requiem mass will be held on Tuesday 19th March 2024 at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church Malindi. The funeral service will be on Friday 22nd March 2024 from 11.00am at his farm in Nyahururu, where he will be laid to rest.
