Hon. Gondi Hesbon Olum
With heavy hearts and a profound acceptance of God’s will, we announce the sudden and peaceful passing on of our Patriarch Hon. Gondi Hesbon Olum, on 9thApril, 2024.
Formally; CECM for Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, Siaya County, Director of Industries in the Ministry of Industry, Chief Economist in the Ministry of Planning and National Development. He also served as a Board Member Kenya Petroleum Refinery Limited.
He was the cherished son of the late Edward Barack Gondi and the late Leah Awuor Gondi and the late Anjelina Amol Gondi. He was the devoted husband of the late Sylvia Anyango Olum.
Hesbon was also fondly known by other names as Wuon Akinyi, Patron, Jakom, Waziri, Senior Citizen and Wuod Waohra.
Wuon Akinyi was a doting father of Susan Akinyi Olum (National Syndemic Diseases Control Council), Pelly Awuor Olum (Kenbright Insurance Brokers Ltd), James Okoth Olum (Duol Kombok), Angela Achieng Olum(Absa Bank) and Charles Dola Olum (Geothermal Development Company).
He was a grandfather of Myles Olum Mutuku (Chania High), Ryan Olum (St. Mary’s Yala), Kyle Olum Okoth (Merishaw School), Nakisha Dola (Langata West Junior High School), Baraka Okoth (Brighton International School) and Dylan Olum Dola (St. Mary School Donholm).
A dear father-in-law of Celeste Liyai-Okoth (Kasha) and Ephy Mwanyigha-Dola (Humane Pharmaceutical Kenya).
He was a treasured brother of Paul Gondi, Cannon Titus Abidha, Samwel Buoga, Daniel Dwero, Belvins Odando, Benter Gondi, Margaret Oduol, Rosemary Olali, Eunice Okello, Elizabeth Gondi, Merab Gondi, and the late (Jackton Achiro, Dr. A. L. Gondi, Dorcas Oyier, Maxwell Ngesa, Jennifer Ayoo, Richard Okwach, Fred Okeya and Betty Okoyo Onyango).
Beloved brother-in-law of Alice Gondi, Triza Buoga, Pamela Abidha, Penina Daniel, Dory Dwero, Elizabeth Odando, Joshua Omenda, Richard Oduol, Walter Absaloms, Alfred Ong’iro and the late (Christine Achiro, Dr. Merina Gondi, Mary Ngesa, Mariah Okwach, John Oulo, Jacktone Olali, John Onyango, William Okello). He was also a cherished in-law of the Dola family of Sakwa Uyawi.
Waziri was an uncle to many.
The funeral Fundraiser meetings will be held as follows;
18th April 2024 All Saints Cathedral Nairobi from 5.00pm
20th April 2024 Duol K’Ombok Mbotela from 2.00pm
23rd April 2024 All Saints Cathedral Nairobi from 5.00pm,
and Ka Gondi home in Anyuongi Bondo from 2.00pm
There will be a funeral service at St. Marks ACK Church Westlands, Nairobi on 24th April, 2024 from 2.00pm.
The cortege leaves Aga Khan Mortuary Kisumu on Friday, 26th April, 2024 at 10.00am for a funeral service at St. Peter’s ACK Thim, Anyuongi, South Sakwa, Bondo, Siaya County, from 2.00pm.
The burial will take place in Anyuongi, South Sakwa, on Saturday 27th April, 2024.
