It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Cleophas Owasunya Kokonya, which occured on May 4th, 2024 at The Nairobi Hospital. Formerly of the United Nations Security Services Nairobi and ICTR Kigali.
He was the cherished son of the late Clement Onyango and the late Sarah Khasenye. Son-in-law of the late Alex Okwiri andthe late Matilda Okwiri.
He was a dear husband of Jane Kokonya. A treasured brother of Elizabeth Wanguba and brother-in-law of Francis Wanguba. He was the beloved father of Lillian, Renée, Eusebio, Felix, Flavia and Chloe.
A dear father-in-law of Bartholomew Sullivan, Mercy Obanda and Mercy Auma and a treasured grandfather of Munge, Niah, Clement, Alex, Nathan, Jahawi, Tulia, Getrude and Jabali.
A cousin and uncle of many.
Family and friends are meeting daily at his Lavington home for prayers and funeral arrangements from 6.00pm.
There will be a fundraiser at Holy family Basilica on Thursday May 16th, 2024, from 5.00pm. There will be a funeral mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Adams Arcade on Thursday May 23rd, 2024 from 2.00pm.
The cortege will leave Lee Funeral home on Friday May 24th, 2024 for transportation to his family home in Busia County. The funeral service and burial will take place on Saturday May 25th, 2024 in Bugengi Village, Butula district, Busia County.
