It is with profound sadness and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of Scholastica Mueni Matheka, a retired member of staff of the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON).
Beloved wife of Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Joseph Mutuku Matheka and daughter of the late Lazarus Maingi Kiilu and the late Naomi Kavuu Maingi.
Loving mother of Christine Kyule, Lillian Mulwa, Millicent Mutuku, Angela Mutuku-Okelo and Michael Mutuku. Grandmother of the late Cynthia Kyule, Phillip Kyule, Willis Kyule, Ariah Okelo and Ethan Okelo.
Mother in-law of Mwanzia Kyule and Alex Okelo. Sister of the late Agnes Mwikali, Sammy Maingi, Anna Kimulu, Magdaline Mutua, Rose Mwaka, Mbithi Maingi, the late Jones Mutisya, Titus Maingi and the late Musau Maingi.
Daughter-in-law of Ancent Matheka Muvili and Helena Nthambi Matheka. Sister-in-law of Johnson Mutinda, Jacinta Muuke and Eng John Maingi, Daniel Kioko, Patrick Muvili, Penina Matheka, Veronicah Matheka -Murianki and Lawrence Murianki, and the late Teresia Matheka.
Family and friends are meeting daily for funeral preparations at her Kileleshwa (Nairobi) and Mwala (Machakos) homes. There will be a requiem mass on Friday, 18th October 2024 at Don Bosco Catholic Church, Upper Hill, Nairobi starting at 10:00 am.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024 at Kivulusa Primary School, Mwala, Machakos County. She will be laid to rest at her Kivulusa home on the same day.
