It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the passing on of our beloved mother, Mary Wakonyu Kagai (Mary witú) while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital Annex – Othaya on the 19th of August 2021.
Daughter to the late Epapharus Thinwa Maganjo and the late Milkah Ngima Thinwa of Gathehu village, Magutu in Nyeri County. Daughter-in-law to the late Bildad Kanuri and the late Charity Wanjiru.
Beloved wife to John Kagai Kanuri (formerly of Fisheries Department) of Thiha, Múkúrwe-iní in Nyeri County. Loving mom to Carolyn Wanjiru Mwawaza, Bildad Kanuri, Epafrus Thinwa (Telkom Kenya), Benard Kigo and Milkah Ngima (Indianapolis – USA).
Mother-in-love to the late Jackson Mwawaza, Carolyne Kanuri, Lilian Thinwa, Catherine Kigo and Jane Kanuri.
Sister to the late Joseph Mwai, Elizabeth Katisya, Cecilia Waiguru, Beth Kangari, Eunah Wacuka (formerly of ICEA LION Group), the late Dedan Muchoki, Dr. Jane Thinwa (KNH) and Tabitha Wanjiru.
Doting grandmother to Larissa Mwawaza, Tony Sissey, Marydee Wakonyu, John Kagai, Aisha Dee Wakonyu, Wilson Githiga, Kai Kamau, Tana Kagai, Talek Thinwa, Jamie Kagai, Nicole Wakonyu, Neema Mogotu, Allen Kagai, Amy Wakonyu, Leslie Wakonyu, Austin Kinder and Josiah Kanuri.
Great Grandmother to Ravaughn Mwawaza and Amareeh Sissey.
Friends and Family are meeting daily to condole at the family home, Maganjo Estate in Sagana (right opposite The Sagana Country Hotel) from 4pm to 6pm.
The cortege will leave Jamii Hospital – Karatina at 8.00 am on Friday 27th August 2021, thereafter a funeral service and interment will be held at her Maganjo home in Sagana at 10.00am.
