CELEBRATION OF LIFE
With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing on of Gilbert Kiprono Langat, CEO of Shippers Council of Eastern Africa (SCEA). He was a member of the National Standards Council at the Kenya Bureau of Standards where he served as the Chairman of the Technical Trade and Permits Approval Committee, and a valued member of the Finance Staff and General purpose Committee.
Mr. Gilbert Langat’s work at KEBS and within the National Standards Council was characterized by a strong commitment to elevate trade standards and implementation of policies that strengthened Kenya’s global trade. His tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of the Shippers Council of Eastern Africa and his involvement in various national committees demonstrated his broad impact on Kenya’s transport and logistics sector. He is credited as the brains behind the Ports charter that has led to a radical improvement in the Kilindini Port Operations.
He was the son of the late Nehemiah Nyoro and Grace Nyoro of Cheplelachbei, Nandi County. He was a loving husband to Mrs. Charity Kitawa Langat and a devoted father to Charlene Cherotich Langat.
Mr. Gilbert Langat was born on 1st January 1972 in Kericho County. He went to be with the Lord on 28th December 2023.
He was a brother to Zeddy Rono, John Langat, Hellen Ketter, Dr. Kipkirui Langat, Loise Karoney, Priscilla Nyoro, Sammy Langat, Joseph Langat, Eunice Too and Ben Langat. He was brother-in-love to the late Daniel Rono, Eudiah Langat, Amb. Ketter, Mrs. Cecelia Langat, Samuel Karoney, Dr. Rosebella Langat, Jennifer Langat, David Too and Jane Langat.
He was a son-in-love to Donald John Mzenge and Lilly Wachia Mzenge. He was brother-in-love to Edmund Mzee, Harry Mwanjala, Paul Mzenge and Mercy Mwanyasi all of Taita. Gilbert was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews and doting grandpa to many.
Daily meetings are going on at his Karen residence on Academy Road from 3.00pm and also at Cheplelachbei, Nandi County.
Memorial service will be held at CITAM Karen today Wednesday 3rd January 2024 at 2:00pm.
The cortege leaves Nairobi for Cheplelachbei Village, Lessos, Nandi County on Thursday 4th January 2024. The funeral will be held on Friday 5th January 2024 at the Nyoro residence, Nandi County from at 10:00am.
