It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of Christopher Osano Gekonge on December 23rd 2023 in the USA after a long illness. He was born in 1943 to the late Gekonge Osano and the late Priscah Obonyo at Ichuni Village, Ichuni Sub-Location, Masaba South Sub-County, Kisii County.
Devoted husband of Truphosah “Phossie” Gekonge. Dedicated and loving father of Charles, Betsy, Moraa, Jeremy and Elsebah Gekonge.
Beloved father-in-law to Brigitta Gekonge and John Kuya. Beloved grandfather to Adele, Christopher, and Amanda Gekonge, Mokeira and Orina Gekonge, and Balozi and Khaliesa Kuya.
Brother to William Abachi, Mary Saisi, Wilfred Matoke, the late Beatrice Mogotu, John Makana, the late Simon Gekonge, Caren Bitutu, the late Ombaba, the late Ochi, the late Omosa, the late Oboi, Gesage, the late Maraga among others. Brother-in-law to Paul Anyango (Joyce), the late Josiah Saisi, Esther Abachi, Mary Matoke, the late Grace Omanga, the late Rispah Auma among others.
First cousin to Hon. Chris Bichage, Chairman Nairobi Hospital. Respected uncle to many including Nancy Abachi, Nahum Mokua, Dinah Matoke, Moraa Mogoah, Evans Gekonge, Eunice Omanga, Charles Anyango, among others.
A fundraiser to offset medical, transportation and funeral expenses will be held on 4th January 2024 from 5.00 pm at United Kenya Club.

The body arrives in Nairobi from Philadelphia on 8th January 2024 and there will be a requiem mass at St. Pauls Catholic Parish near University of Nairobi on 10th January 2024. The cortege will then leave Lee Funeral Home on Thursday 11th January 2024 for his rural home at Ichuni Village. Service will be held at Ichuni Parish church grounds on Friday 12th January 2024 then proceed to his rural home for burial.
Christopher was a well loved husband, father, and grandfather. His generosity and kindness preceded him! He was a positive and motivating force in the many lives that he touched through his wise counsel, support, and encouragement. He will be very much missed by all who knew and loved him.
May he rest in peace.
