It is with humble acceptance of God ‘s will that we announce the passing on of Mzee Hezron Malenya Olaka on Wednesday, 27th December 2023 at St. Francis Hospital, Kisumu.
Husband of Rev. Catherine Amakobe Olaka. Father to Kutswa Olaka (Power of Mercy Committee) the late Mwalimu Moses Olaka, Leah Abuli (Mundoli Primary School), Sara Makokha (Ministry of Health, Butere), Job Olaka (Ministry of Health, Busia), Elizabeth Eshifulula (Ministry of Health, Khwisero), Winnie Olaka (Ministry of Roads, Kisii) and Edwin Obando (formerly of National Police Service). Son of the late Joram and Selina Olaka. He was the grandfather to many.
Brother of the late Romona Obando, the late Alice Wako, the late Agnes Oyungu, Truphosa Otieno, the late Joyce Munala, the late David Olaka and Phanice Ojera. Brother-in-law to the late Nelson Obando, the late Dr. Daniel Wako, the late Fredrick Oyungu, the late Julius Otieno, the late Livingstone Munala, John Ojera, the late Florence Furi, the late Dorcas Magomere, the late Meresia Makokha, the late Walter Mutesa and Eunice Shiyuka.
He was the father-in-law to Phoebe Kutswa, Janet Olaka, James Abuli, the late Amos Makokha, Everlyne Olaka, Sammy Sande and Margaret Obando. Uncle to the Obandos of Maseno, Vihiga, Wakos of Matayos, Busia; the Oyungus of Emmutsa, Vihiga, the Otienos of Seme, Kisumu, the Munalas of Ebushiekwe, Vihiga and the Ojeras of Got Regea, Siaya. The cortege will leave Star Hospital Mortuary Kisumu on Thursday 4th January 2024 at 10.00am for his home at Ebukhoba Village, Khwisero Sub-County, Kakamega County. The funeral service will be held at Ekambuli Primary School on Friday 5th January 2024 starting at 9.00am followed by burial at his Ebukhoba home.
