It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved patriarch and father, Eustace Mwangi Gikunju, who left this world on 27th January, 2024. Eustace Mwangi departed peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.

Eustace Mwangi Gikunju was born in 1935 to the late Joseph Gikunju Karingu and Beatrice Wachera Gikunju. He was a loving brother to the late Simon Wanyeki, the late Gideon Gatebi, Alice Gitonga, and Nancy Masya.

His first marriage was to the late Cecilia Njeri. Until his passing, Eustace Mwangi was married to his wife, Jacqueline Muthoni, since 1978. Mzee Gikunju was blessed with ten children with Cecilia, namely; Gikunju, Kirungo, Wachera, Muthoni, Wangari, Gichuri, Wambui, Nderitu, Hon. Jesse Wanyeki, and the late Karuri. With his wife Jacqueline, he was blessed with five children, namely; Irungu, Betty, Irene, the late Gikunju and Terry.

Mzee Gikunju’s children were not limited to the 15 he bore with his wives. He was a father to all his nephews, nieces, and everyone else who had the privilege of knowing him.

We will remember our dad for his generosity, kindness, compassion, and love for humanity. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
