It is with deep sorrow but humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the death of Margaret Njeri Kamau Gichohi that occurred on 3rd February after a short illness.
She was the wife of Andrew Kamau Gichohi and the caring mother of Elizabeth Wanjiru & Alphonse Njau Kirika, Ronald Gichohi & Wairimu Gichohi, Rebecca Nduta (ICEA LION Group) & Isaac Sangira (UNHCR) Elias Kimani & Edith Watahi, Grace Mumbi and Annah Nyambura. She was the daughter of the late Elias Kimani Karuku and the late Rebecca Nduta Kimani. She was third-born sibling of the late John Karuku, Stephen Karuku, Dr. Edward Waithaka, Elizabeth Nyambura Maina, Alphaxard Kiroko, John Maina, Lucy Wambui Maina and Duncan Kiiru.
Daughter-in-law of the late Shadrack Gichohi Gikie and the late Elizabeth Wanjiru Gichohi. Sister in-law to Njeri and the late Edward Kamau,The late Nyakinyoro Mumbi, Wangari and the late Gichuki Gichohi, Joyce Waihiga and Munyua Gichuki, Virgina Mumbi and Maina Wanyiri, Wambugu Wa Gichohi and Wangui, Alice Wambaire and the late Ngunjiri Gichohi. Her in-laws are Augustine Kirika Mungai, Naomi Ndoroka Kirika, Stephen Macharia Gitau, Catherine Njeri Macharia, Patrick & Julita Sangira of Gwassi and the Late Jane Wambui Mutero. She was grandmother to Anita Njeri, Justin Kirika, Martin Kiarii, Anthony Mungai, Mitchelle Weda, Michael Sangira, Megan Kithana, Marie Nyahera, Sean Kamau, LeAnna Njeri, Stefan Macharia, Carmen Njeri, Claud Kamau and Cleopatra Wambui. She was a cousin, auntie, grandmother and a friend to many.

There will be a requiem Mass on Monday 12th February 2024 at St. Joseph’s Church, Jericho, at 11.00am. The cortege will leave Kenyatta Referral Hospital Morgue on Tuesday 13th February 2024 at 6.00am, funeral Mass will be held in Kanjama Catholic Church in Murang’a at 10.00am, followed by interment at her home in Gachii.

Margaret lived her Catholic faith heroically to the end and must be in the hands of the ever-Virgin Mary, whom she loved greatly.
